  • Mr. Ranbir Chopra (Punjab) was the First Captain of Indian Basketball team at 1st Asian Games, Delhi - 1951.

  • Punjab stands 2nd (in Men) & 4th (in Women)  in "Most Gold Medals in Senior Nationals" rankings. Punjab has won 10 Golds in Men and 7 Golds in Women championships.

  • Punjab stands 2nd (in Men) & 4th (in Women)  in "Most Medals in Senior Nationals" rankings also. Punjab has won 34 (10 Golds, 12 Silvers & 12 Bronze) medals in Men and 15 (7 Golds, 6 Silver & 2 Bronze) medals in Women championships.

  • Punjab hosted 12 Senior National Championships and stands first in "State hosting most nationals" rankings.

  • Ludhiana (Punjab) stands 3rd in "City hosting most Senior Nationals". Ludhiana has hosted 8 Senior Nationals.

  • Punjab Police (Punjab) has won highest number of Gold medals, i.e. 7 at "Senior Federation Cup"

  • Punjab Police is winner of Senior Federation Cup (Men) for 5 continuous years, 1997 - 2001.

  • Punjab Police (Punjab) has won highest number of medals, i.e. 13 (7 Gold & 6 Silver) at "Senior Federation Cup".

  • Punjab is the winner of Junior National Basketball Championship (BOYS) for 5 continuous years, from 2000 to 2004. Mr. Ramesh Kalley was the coach behind this achievement.

  • Punjab is the winner of Senior National Championship (Women) for 6 continuous years, from 1978 to 1983.

  • Satnam Singh Bhamra is youngest player to play for India in the 26th ABC Wuhan 2011 at age of 15 years.

  • Amarjot Singh is first Indian referee to officiate in an ABC Final at Wuhan 2011

  • 6 Basketball players of Punjab played in the  26th ABC Wuhan 2011. All players were trained by                              Dr. S Subramanian.
